Mr. Mazurowski was appointed the Board of Education President at the January 2011 Organizational meeting. He is serving his second term in office. Mr. Mazurowski is a 38-year Redford resident and a Thurston High School graduate from the class of 1979. Mr. Mazurowski and his wife Nadine have two children. Bruce Mazurowski is assigned to the following committees for the 2010 – 11 school year: Board Annual Performance Evaluation, Superintendent's Evaluation, and Wellness Committee. 2010-2011 adopted school Thurston High School. Term expires 12/14.
 
Laurie A. Hicks, Vice President    BIO: Hicks   hickla09@southredford.net 
Mrs. Hicks is now serving her twelfth year on the Board Education. Mrs. Hicks was appointed Board Vice President at the Board Organizational meeting in January 2011. A Redford resident of 45 years, Mrs. Hicks and her husband Terry has three children. Mrs. Hicks was assigned to serve on the following committees during the 2010-11 school year Board Annual Performance Evaluation, Review of Orientation and Policy Manuals Superintendent's Evaluation, Board liaison for MASB, NSBA, WCASB, Federal Legislative Relations Network, and (FRN).   2010-2011adopted school Jefferson Elementary. Term expires 12/12.

Ms. Flesher was re-elected for second term in the 2008 May election. Ms. Flesher is a widow with four children and has been a resident of Redford for 24 years. At the January 2011 Organizational meeting Ms. Flesher was appointed to serve as the Board of Education Treasurer. Ms. Flesher was assigned to the following committees for the 2010-11 school year: Review of Orientation and Policy Manuals, Superintendent Evaluation, Food Service, Wellness, Board liaison for NSBA, Federal Legislative Relations Network (FRN), South Redford Pre-Kindergarten, Sex Education and School Based Health Center and new Board member orientation liaison. 2010-2011 adopted school Fisher Elementary. Term expires 12/12.

Mr. Baker was appointed to the South Redford School District Board of Education at the Special Board meeting of Monday, April 28, 2008, to fill Mr. Tom Burnosky's seat on the Board until the next election in May 2009. Mr. Baker won his seat in the May 2009 election and will serve on the Board for the remainder of Mr. Burnosky's term. Mr. Baker and his wife Michelle have three children. Mr. Baker is assigned to the following committees for the 2010 -11 school year Review of Board Orientation and Policy Manuals, new Board Orientation Committee, and the Sex Education Committee. 2010-2011 adopted school Shear Early Childhood Center. Term expires 12/12.

Mr. Dowdy was re-elected in the May 2009 School Board election and is now serving the second year of his second term.  Mr. Dowdy sought a position to make a difference in the school and community. Mr. Dowdy is an alumnus of Thurston High School and an active community member. 2010-2011 adopted school Pierce Middle School.  Term expires 12/14.

Mrs. Kangas was elected to the Board of Education in the May 2008. She is married, has eight children and is an active community member. At the January 2011 Organizational Meeting Mrs. Kangas was assigned to serve on the following committees for the 2010-11 school year: Board Annual Performance Evaluation Manual, Superintendent’s Evaluation, and the Food Service Committee. 2010-11 adopted school Vandenberg Elementary. Term expires 12/12.

Mrs. Patty Thomas was appointed to complete Greg Van Morgan's seat through the end of his term. Patty won the election for the open seat in the November 2010 election. Her first meeting as an elected official was Monday, January 10, 2011. At the Organizational Meeting of January 2011, Mrs. Thomas was appointed to serve on the following committees: Board Orientation Manual, South Redford Foundation for Educational Excellence and Orientation of new Board members. 2010-11 adopted school is Addams Elementary. Term expires 12/16
