Fisher PTO Meeting Minutes / March 13, 2012 Please join us for our next PTO meeting on Tuesday, May 8th at 7:00 pm. in the Media Center. Free babysitting is provided. Elections for the 2012-2013 school year PTO board will be conducted at this meeting.
Presidents Report: We will not be having a Spring Fling this year. While this is very disappointing to some, it is inevitable due to the continued decline in profits over the past several year and the large amount of work the event requires. Our back to school events in the Fall will be expanded and improved upon utilizing some of the favorite aspects of the Spring Fling. 3rd grade Inter-mural Soccer is starting up now and Mr. Decker has reported a super turn out for both inter-mural programs this year. Vice-Presidents Report: New Business: The next Family Movie Night will be held on March 23 and we will be showing "The Muppets". We will have new concession options of nachos and hotdogs. A suggestion for an April family event/fundraiser of a night out at Chucky Cheese. This is being looked into. Aileen Howard is organizing a Mom2Mom sale for April 21st. We will need volunteers to help out on that day. The last Fisher Skate Night will be held on Tuesday, May 15th fro 6-8pm. This is the last one and offers us our best percentage for fundraising profit. A tentative date of June 23rd was set for the Fisher rummage sale. Aileen will be heading up this event again this year. Sam Smith has been working with Vandenburg Elementary in organizing a Relay Recess (mini Relay for Life) to occur at Vandenburg on May 22nd. Students will collect pledges and walk that evening. There will be free games, a DJ, and we will sell concessions. A kick off assembly will be held during school on April 24th. We will also be collecting donations benefiting the American Cancer Society and placing paper "mini-feet" on the hallway walls where donors can honor a cancer survivor or loved one. More details on the Relay Recess will be passed out at the kickoff event. Battle of the Books will begin just before Spring Break and the competition will occur on May 29th. Teacher Appreciation Week is May 1-4. The a motion was raised and approved to allocate $400 for expenses gifts and a brunch to honor our teachers and staff at Fisher. A motion to allocate $2000 to place an order for more spirit wear items was passed. Nominations There will be no PTO meeting in April due to spring break. |
