Now in its fifth year, the annual Turkey Trot is a standing district tradition that is scheduled for the first Friday in November. The fun-filled event is held at the Thurston Athletic Stadium to promote exercise and healthy life styles for South Redford students and their families. The event is a crowd pleaser with special visits from the glitzy-glamour Turkey
Last week, Fisher Elementary invited community leaders to Fisher Elementary to discuss ways to improve services to Fisher students and families. Principal, Brian Galdes comments, “Elementary schools are the heart of the community. The doors of Fisher Elementary are open from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. our facility is used by residents of our community. Fisher Elementary is the nucleus of the community."
Administrators of Thurston High School are proud to announce the news of fifteen (15) students at Lee M. Thurston High School who have earned the designation of AP Scholar Awards by the College Board. The AP Scholar Awards are presented to students in recognition of the exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program® (AP®) Exams. Assistant Principal, Bill Simms comments, “We are very proud of the accomplishments of our students who choose to challenge themselves with the most rigorous courses available. These AP Scholars serve as an inspiration and as role models for our students in applying themselves at the highest academic levels.”
