Field Trip Brings History to Life
5/21/2009 12:04:20 PM
Now a day’s students use technology in their life everyday and it is a challenge for then to imagine what life would be like without technology. The second grade classes at Jane Addams had the chance to discover first hand what life was like in the 1870’s before electric luxuries and the advanced technology used today. The students spent May 5th and May 7th at the One-Room School in Millrace Village, Northville. Ms. Kathie Ciupek, second grade teacher comments, “The visit was the culmination of their Social Studies unit on early life in our communities. They dressed up as children of the 1870’s, spent the day learning with McGuffey Readers and used slate boards and even brought their lunch in lunch pails. It was a trip that brought history to life.”  See photos.
